Tang Mingzhen’s oil paintings have
strong female characters. Her oil painting language inherits much of impressionist
masters’ understanding and composition of colors and completeness. From many of
her oil paintings we can feel the beauty of fashion which is the pursuit of
most females. As a female artist who is almost as old as P.R. China, her works
are imprinted by the age and her personality and emotional experience. Her

Tang Mingzhen was born in Shanghai at
early 1950s. Later she traveled around Shanghai and Haerbin, Shenyang, Lanzhou
and Changchun due to her father’s job transfer and her own study and work
experiences. Over tens of years, she has been living in the urban all the time.
she witnesses the change and development of each city. So she focuses her
creation on the cities that she is familiar with. She wants to present urban life and pace and
the emotions and pursuits of urban females with her brush. She created a series
of urban female paintings like Wish, Memory Of Autumn and Urban Forest •Wall •Girl.
They are all beautiful, pure, quite and elegant. Their hair styles and costumes
are all contemporary fashion.

representative created by Tang Mingzhen in 2003. The painting used to be exhibited
on Hand In Hand Into New Century –3rd Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition in 2003 at
National Art Museum of China. the artist sets off the girl’s gentility and
elegance with the rough texture of the wall and presents the urban pace and
living space with the composition of vertical scroll and the standing girl. By
strong contrast of the solemn background and the girl in white, the painting is
full of a strong flavor of the times.
